How can we influence policy in China? Here is something we can all do.
Download the petition from
the link below and start getting signatures.
When you have about 100 signatures, make two copies of the
petition. Keep one copy and send the
original to your Chinese ambassador along with a letter. I’ve composed a sample for you to follow if
you wish. Keep the letter polite and
don’t make any threats. That really
won’t help. I’ve also included a link to
assist you in properly formatting the letter.
I have trouble with that part!
Send the other duplicate to the Animals Asia Foundation office in Hong Kong along with a copy of the letter to your
ambassador. This is one way to apply
some gentle pressure to the Chinese government.
If you have questions, please contact me.

As a concerned citizen of (your country here) I would like
to thank the China Wildlife Conservation Association and the Sichuan Forestry
Department for closing selected bear farms and releasing 500 bears into the
care of Animals Asia. Your continued
efforts to promote the herbal and synthetic alternatives to bear bile are
appreciated. We urgently appeal to the
Chinese government to end bear farming by the Beijing Olympic Games in
2008. I have attached a petition signed
by (fill in the number) of my fellow (your country) citizens.
